Swimming lake and river canoeing
A splendid lake with sandy beach within walking distance (800 meter). In July and August the water quality is monitored and there is supervision. In the kiosk you can buy a cold drink or an ice-cream. Ideal for yound and old.
Canoeing on the current of the river Vienne (also for beginners): the starting points for a whole or half day of canoeing lie at 9 and 12 km of the campsite.
Oradour sur Glane
Oradour sur Glane (17 km) is a martyr village, destroyed in the second world war. You can visit the ruins and the visitor centre.
Local (flea)markets
Vist the local markets with their typical french products. Do not miss the market on Wednesday morning in Piegut-Pluviers, on Saturday morning in Saint Junien and on Sunday morning in Panazol. Flea markets are organised in the weekends often combined with a village event. In July and August there is a farmers market on Thursday evening, where you can buy and eat local products together with the french residents.
Limoges
Enamel, glass stained windows and porcelain from Limoges (28 km) are world-famous, but do not forget to visit the cathedral, the narrow stair-streets, butchers and artisan workhomes. Walk around and be surprised by this medieval town. Take the tourist train with small children or if you are not a good walker and take in 2000 years of history.
Acrobois and velorail
Climbing trough to trees (32 km), a challenge for everyone !
Discover the country-side horse-back riding in Sereilhac (12 km) or take a donkey for a stroll (14 km).
Montrol Senard and Brantôme
Montrol Senard (31 km) is an ecomuseum 'nostalgique countryside'. This village gives you the opportunity to feel how living was in the XXe century in a small village.
Definitely worth it is a visit to Brantôme (78 km), also known as the Venice of Perigord, with nice terraces and shops. Combine it with a visit to the market in Piegut-Pluviers on Wednesday morning or the underground cave in Villars.
Castles of King Richard the Lionheart
Visit the beautiful castles of King Richard the Lionheart. In August the middle ages revive in the castle of Lastours with a tournament, music, archery and games (28 km).
Historical cities in the vicinity are Rochechouart (16 km), Saint-Junien (15 km) and Limoges (28 km). Rochechouart is certainly worth a visit for its meteorite attack and its castle with museum of modern art. Saint-Junien with lovely city center, is known for its leather gloves. These gloves are handmade for fashion designers Chanel, Dior, YSL and Hermès.
Zoo Reynou and aquarium Limoges
Parc Reynou (32 km) is a beautiful parc with views of the surrounding area. It harbours 110 different species of animals.
View the very varied collection of sealife (28 km). The aquarium is appropriately located in the former underground cistern of Limoges. And do have a look behind the scenes.
Roman bathhouse Cassinomagnus and Papermill
'Cassinomagus' (22 km) was a stopover for roman legions on their way from Saintes to Lyon. Experience the roman empire and its knowledge and do your own excavating.
Le Moulin du Got is an old paper mill from the XVe century in Saint leonard de Noblat (47 km). The art of making and pressing paper is explained and you can try it yourself.
Hiking and geocaching
Hiking starts at the camp-site. There are several hiking routes in our area. Ask for our selection and its descriptions at the bar or download them on your smartphone/GPS. For a list of hikes you can visit our page 'Walk and cycle tracks on GPS' hiking.
Walks by GPS in search of the treasure ! You will find the next GPS-coordinate by answering questions about nature or surroundings and at the end of the trail the final coordinate, where the treasure is hidden.
Cycling and horse riding
Cycling opportunities for everyone. In the north, with the gentle sloping landscape with small height differences and more towards the south with steeper hillocks and tortuous paths.
Discover the country-side horse-back riding in Sereilhac (12 km) or take a donkey for a stroll (14 km).
Parc Bellevue, Grotte de Villars and Feeriland
Parc Bellevue (23 km) is about 8 hectares of varied fun for children with many atrractions.
The cave (61 km) offers an underground adventure and a beautiful visitor centre with information on the cave and has a nice playground. During the summerholiday you can learn archery and how to hunt in prehistoric times.
The marvellous miniture world (15 km). There are 8 different themes, created by passionate miniature builders. Get from the Wild West to the circus to a mountain landscape. Outside is playground set in a Japanese garden.
